[JOB FOCUS] Induction hardener

In this video, our teams explain their daily routines, their technical procedures, and the requirements of heat treatment.

A role at the heart of material transformation

The induction hardener is a specialist in heat treatment. Their role is to modify the internal structure of steel to give it high mechanical strength, which is essential in demanding industrial environments. By controlling the heat, cooling rate, and stability of the material, they ensure the performance and durability of the parts.

Key steps in the hardening process

  • Heat the steel to a controlled critical temperature – around 950°C – toprepare its internal structure for transformation.
  • Transfer the part to a suitable quenching environment: water, oil, air, or polymer.
  • Cool rapidly to create a much harder and more durable microstructure.
  • Stabilize the material before proceeding to the next steps, such as tempering.

What changes inside the material

  • At high temperatures, steel reaches a state in which its structure can change.
  • Rapid cooling causes a very hard phase to form.
  • This process improves wear resistance, strength, and mechanical performance.
  • Rapid cooling prevents the formation of softer phases, resulting in a more robust internal structure.

Why the expertise of the induction hardener is essential

  • Select the appropriate quenching environment based on the alloy and the part’s geometry.
  • Control the cooling rate to prevent cracks, warping, or internal stresses.
  • Ensure temperature uniformity to achieve consistent mechanical properties.
  • Monitor the entire thermal cycle to ensure quality, consistency and safety..

A precision job requiring a high degree of responsibility, heat treatment demands a thorough understanding of thermal processes and a constant focus on quality. Thanks to their expertise, our induction hardeners help ensure, every day, the reliability and performance of components used in the most demanding applications.

We are looking for tempering operators to expand our teams.
