DEFONTAINE manufactures rolled and flash butt welded rings from rolled, extruded or cut bar in a large variety of materials: carbon steels, stainless steels, nickel-based alloys, titanium-based alloys, cobalt-based alloyes, etc.
These rings are used in any sector of activity, DEFONTAINE can meet market requirements.
No matter what is the application, the rolling and flash butt welding process is feasible if the material conducts electricity and where machine capacities allow.

The rings can be used as raw or machined. In case of machined parts, over-thicknesses are minimized compared with other production methods, thereby reducing the manufacturing costs.

The flash butt welding process uses no extra metal and the HAZ is very reduced.
The rings are calibrated on shaping tooling to obtain precise geometry.
Post-welding regeneration treatments guarantee continuity of mechanical characteristics in the joint.
If required, heat treatments are performed on the rings to achieve user-defined performance levels.
For certain applications, approval may be necessary.
To fulfil such requirements, we are able to carry out trials and associated tests in our own laboratory or call on a certifying body if necessary.
DEFONTAINE holds a specific qualification for the manufacture of rolled and flash butt welded offshore pipeline strenghtering rings for the oil industry issued by BUREAU VERITAS.
The rings can be made from rectangular, square, round or profiled section bar.
